Aiming for Commercial Pilot License

Many students have a great desire of becoming a Commercial Pilot and are even ready to burn their midnight oil for achieving this decent goal of theirs . But having insufficient knowledge about the aviation industry they tend to pursue the wrong programmes and their hard efforts go in vain .
One should always have a clear idea about the various programmes and training schemes involved in this industry . The most basic course in training is the Commercial Pilot Licence . CPL is the key training programme in becoming a pilot.

Almost all pilot certificates and ratings require the applicant to go through a knowledge test . The basic requirement to obtain the license and the privileges it confers are agreed internationally by International Civil Aviation Organization . To be eligible for CPL , the applicant must be able to read , speak , write and understand English . In order to become a Commercial Airline Pilot , there are several certificates and ratings that you will need .

Commercial Pilot License

The first thing you need is a Private Pilot License , which will allow you to fly on your own , but does not allow you to receive payment for flying . A four year degree is required to fly a major airline , its preferable to get a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in aviation . One has to look around for a good flight school and flight instructor to begin working on a Private Pilot License .

The FAA minimum is 40 hours , 60 hours being the desirable time . After earning the PPL , one needs to work on a commercial certificate . An instrument rating requires 50 hours of cross country Pilot in Command and 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument conditions . For the commercial certificate , 250 hours of total time is required .
