Dreamt of flying an air taxi? Meet your eligibility criteria for becoming a successful commercial pilot.

Every child dreamt of flying. Whereas some people have wished to fly as passengers and some wished to become pilots taking their aircrafts into skies and choose this as their professional life. Over last few centuries, human flights were evolved, from hot air balloons and big kites to huge modern passenger aero planes and some supersonic fighter jets. These modern day contraptions capable of taking on skies work on the skills of a single human – The pilot.

Commercial pilots rank among the highest paid professions of the world. But pilots are also responsible for the lives of hundreds of passengers and crew. Modern day pilots require multitude of skills. More than just knowledge of having academic qualifications in Math’s and Physics, superior mental and physical fitness, alert mind and the ability to respond to emergency situations are the few basic talents that is required by the pilot. These skills apply to all the pilots without exception.

Pilots are skilled in providing assistance during in-flight medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests and deliveries. Fighter pilots serve their country, ensuring it’s aeronautical, maritime and land frontiers are safe against enemies and terrorists. Helicopter pilots carry vital cargo, medical personnel and engineers between two locations inaccessible by other modes of transport. Balloonists are known for assisting meteorology and cartography. Hobby aviators are useful for crop dusting and rushing medical assistance to individuals or communities facing calamity. Surveillance pilots provide vital data required to safeguard the world against terrorist nuclear threats by rogue nations.

The basic qualification required by commercial pilot’s applicants is that he must be at least 18 years old. They must be also able to read, write and understand English. To become a pilot, aspirants need to join a good air flying school in the world after the completion of their 10+2.They should have passed their 10+2 exams with Physics and Mathematics. The minimum marks changes according to the different institution in which they are going to apply. Only those candidates who have a background of Mathematics and Physics are eligible to even apply for the training course. If the candidate does not have these two subjects in his higher secondary education he has the option to give exams of these two subjects from the National Institute of Open Schooling and then start his Pilot Training course as his career.

A passion for the flight training is as equally important as an qualification for pilot training as the academic requirements are .Moreover a completed high school secondary education with Math’s ,physics and English are pre required for many flying schools after that one should has Medical certification for the country they choose to do their pilot training with. Like in India DGCA class 2 and class 1 medicals are considered important for pursing pilot training as a career.Similary; other countries have their own medical certifications for hearing, vision and overall health aspects. Lastly, the correct age for starting different licenses program is also an important qualification. As for obtaining licenses such SPL and PPL you can even start at a age of 16 years 17 years respectively. But the correct age and some nationality documents are essential qualifications to become a pilot.
